Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt? Here’s What My Clients Actually Say

One of the questions I’m asked most often is, “Does laser hair removal hurt?”

It’s a completely understandable concern, especially if you’ve never had laser treatment before. The good news is that most clients are genuinely surprised by how comfortable the treatment is.

At Luxe Laser Lounge Boutique in St Neots, I use advanced diode laser technology with integrated cooling to help make every treatment as comfortable as possible. In fact, during the early sessions, many clients tell me they can barely feel anything at all.

What Does Laser Hair Removal Feel Like?

The sensation varies from person to person, but for most clients, the first few sessions are very comfortable. As your treatments progress and we gradually increase the laser settings (known as the fluence) to continue achieving the best results, you may notice a little more sensation.

Clients often describe it as a quick warmth or a light flick against the skin, but it only lasts a fraction of a second.

Throughout every treatment, I regularly check in with you to make sure you’re comfortable. I work to a simple verbal comfort scale from 1–10, where 1 means you feel virtually nothing. I never want treatments to go above a 3 out of 10, and if anything feels too uncomfortable, I’ll adjust the settings accordingly.

Is It More Comfortable Than Waxing?

For the vast majority of my clients, yes.

Many people come to me after years of waxing and tell me they’re amazed at how much more comfortable laser hair removal is. Unlike waxing, there’s no repeated pulling of the skin or ripping hair out from the root. Instead, the laser delivers quick pulses of energy while the cooling system helps keep the skin comfortable.

It’s one of the reasons so many clients wish they’d started laser sooner.

Every Treatment Is Tailored to You

No two clients are the same, which is why every treatment is personalised. Your skin type, hair type and treatment area are all taken into account, and we’ll progress your settings safely over the course of your treatment plan to achieve the best possible results while keeping you comfortable.

My priority isn’t just delivering excellent results – it’s making sure you have a positive experience every time you visit.

Ready to Find Out for Yourself?

If concerns about discomfort have been holding you back, I’d be happy to talk you through the process and answer any questions.

Most clients leave their first appointment saying, “I was expecting it to be much worse!” You might be pleasantly surprised too.
